Group Leaders Report 15 July 2018
Thank you all for attending this Annual Report Presentation meeting this afternoon.
Over the past year we have been continuing on as usual with the business of providing Scouting to our local community.
There have been a few changes within our Group. One change being the stepping back of Lenny Strong from the Group Leader role and me taking over in February this year. I would like to thank Lenny for all of the time and effort he has put into Scouting and our group over the past 3.5 years as Group Leader. He was always organising activities and helping with hikes and camps. He can’t be here this afternoon because he is doing more Scouting. He and Sonia are both doing cross training for Scout Section Basic Practical Course out at Tarmaroo Campsite this weekend. Lenny has now taken up the role of Venturer Scout Leader and is also doing the training for that role.
I would like to thank Sonia for her tireless efforts she has been putting into Joey Scout and into Cub Scout Sections. Also organising so many activities in these sections to keep the interest of our young members and keep them active. Sonia has now officially step down as Joey Leader and Taken up the Cub Scout Leader role. Thank you so much Sonia for your support of our Group.
I would like to thank our Group executive committee and to Julie for leading us and organising us on the management side of things behind the running of our group. To Rebecca for managing the finances and I know we have some big changes ahead. Thanks also to Sarah as our Secretary and also to David Low as my assistant Group Leader.
David only took up the role of Assistant Group Leader in September last year and I was hoping to get him trained up to take over as Group Leader in the future. David has taken up a new job position that takes him out of town now. To Darwin he has gone. But he is still able to support our Group via emails and when he comes back home every couple of weeks.
I would like to thank my Leaders for all of their time and efforts the put into running their sections. We have had Chris and Marcus step up as running the Scout section and Steph while taking a step back has put in so much work in running the fundraising committee. With the Jamboree, Cuboree, and NZ Venturer.
Also I would like to thank Racheal Spalding for her time and efforts she has been putting into the fundraising committee and still managing to do the finances for Cub Section. I know things have been very challenging over the past 6 months. Thank you very much for keeping up with your support for our Group.
I hope that everyone will continue to give their support to our Group over the coming year.
Geoff Sinclair
Group Leader
